《奇異人生：暴風前夕》（英語：Life Is Strange: Before the Storm，中國大陸譯作「奇異人生：暴風前夕」，香港和臺灣譯作「奇妙人生：風暴之前」）是由Deck Nine開發、史克威爾艾尼克斯歐洲發行的章回體圖形冒險遊戲，於2017年末登陸Microsoft Windows、PlayStation 4和Xbox One平台，2018年3月向豪華版買家開放豪華版。遊戲是《奇異人生》第二部作品，為前作的前傳，講述16歲女士歌露兒·普萊斯（英語：Chloe Price）和瑞秋·安波爾的故事。玩家在大多數時候利用對話樹系統或與周圍環境進行互動來推進遊戲。遊戲於2018年末移植到Linux、MacOS、Android和iOS平台。遊戲的復刻版收錄於《奇異人生 復刻版合集》（英語：Life Is Strange Remastered Collection），於2022年2月發布[1]。

Deck Nine於2016年開始利用Unity開發遊戲。在前作中為歌露兒配音的阿什莉·伯奇受2016–17年遊戲配音演員罷工潮（英語：2016–17 video game voice actor strike）影響，未在本作中再度配音，直到工潮結束，才在額外章節中重新上陣。英國獨立樂團女兒樂團為遊戲譜曲。遊戲獲得普遍好評，角色、主題與劇情獲得讚賞，但劇情漏洞、主要關係及遊戲臨近結束時玩家所做選擇的影響被批評。

遊戲玩法

玩家為歌露兒所做的選擇會影響到後續的對白及事件。

《奇異人生：暴風前夕》是一款第三人稱圖像冒險遊戲。與前作不同，本作沒有時間旅行元素。遊戲發生於《奇異人生》事件的三年前，玩家控制16歲的歌露兒·普萊斯。當玩家進行對話或評論時，會出現一個對話樹。玩家偶然間的決定可能會改變後續事件的結局。環境也是可互動元素，其中牆壁可以塗鴉[2][3]。

劇情

16歲的歌露兒·普萊斯在她的家鄉奧勒岡州阿卡迪亞灣，偷偷地潛入火行者樂團在舊木材廠的演唱會。當她和兩名男子發生衝突時，瑞秋·安布爾成功地引開注意，並和她一起逃出。隔天，歌露兒和瑞秋在布萊克威爾學院重逢，她們決定翹課，搭上貨運列車並前往一座公園。她們通過公園裏的取景器看到一男一女接吻，瑞秋突然感覺不舒服。兩人偷了一瓶酒，然後走到一片垃圾場。歌露兒對瑞秋的情緒變化不知所措。瑞秋後來告訴歌露兒，她們在公園裏看到的那個男的是她爸爸詹姆斯，而那個女的卻不是她媽媽。瑞秋把全家福點火燒掉，扔到了垃圾桶裏，憤怒地把垃圾桶踢倒，引發了山火[4]。

翌日，歌露兒和瑞秋被校長威爾斯約談，歌露兒被停學。歌露兒跑到垃圾場，發現了一輛需要維修的舊卡車。之後，歌露兒接到了毒販弗蘭克·鮑爾斯的電話。原來，歌露兒的同學德魯欠弗蘭克很大一筆錢，弗蘭克想讓歌露兒去把錢偷來交給他。在德魯的寢室裏，歌露兒偷到錢之後，另一名毒販達蒙找上門來暴力催收，在門外毒打德魯。歌露兒必須選擇是把錢留下來，還是把錢交給達蒙以使德魯不再遭受暴打。當晚，原定出演《暴風雨》的一名同學因爲山火造成的交通擁堵無法按時趕來，歌露兒便代替她與瑞秋演對手戲。演出結束後，歌露兒和瑞秋決計開垃圾場的那輛卡車離開阿卡迪亞灣。兩人先回到瑞秋家收拾行李。瑞秋父母留歌露兒吃晚飯，不料席間發生衝突，兩人驚訝地得知，原來她們在公園裏看到的那個女人，不是別人，正是瑞秋的親生母親[5]。

原來，瑞秋的親生母親名叫塞拉，是一名癮君子，十幾年前便棄瑞秋而去。在公園那天，詹姆斯拒絕了塞拉想與瑞秋見面的請求。雖然詹姆斯不願意，但歌露兒還是發誓要找到塞拉。歌露兒與弗蘭克聯繫，想讓他提供一些資訊。弗蘭克同意在垃圾場見歌露兒。歌露兒在垃圾場等瑞秋的時候，把那輛卡車修好了。弗蘭克和達蒙一道來到了垃圾場，達蒙知道瑞秋是地方檢察官的女兒之後，便用刀將她刺傷。歌露兒慌忙開車把瑞秋送到醫院，所幸瑞秋經過治療後已無大礙。歌露兒在瑞秋的允許下前往她家調查詹姆斯的辦公室，想要找到塞拉的綫索。歌露兒發現詹姆斯一直在與達蒙保持聯繫。歌露兒用詹姆斯的手機給達蒙發短信，發現達蒙綁架了塞拉以向詹姆斯勒索。歌露兒終於知道了塞拉的下落。歌露兒開車到了達蒙的所在，剛想把贖金給他，卻意外地得知詹姆斯想讓達蒙把塞拉殺掉。歌露兒被達蒙擊昏，這時弗蘭克出現，與達蒙大打出手。歌露兒醒來後，塞拉懇求歌露兒不要把詹姆斯做的這一切告訴瑞秋。回到醫院後，歌露兒面臨著一個選擇：是不要讓瑞秋知道的好，還是該把事情的真相告訴瑞秋？[6]

在額外章節「告別」，13歲的麥珂茜·考爾菲德掙扎於是否要告訴歌露兒，她三天內就要舉家搬至西雅圖。正巧在當天傍晚，歌露兒母親回家，她們得知歌露兒父親出車禍身亡[7]。

開發

Deck Nine開發了由編劇軟件及動畫引擎組成的專利軟件StoryForge（故事鍛造），給發行商史克威爾艾尼克斯留下深刻印象，遂被選為《奇異人生》前傳開發商[8]。開發工作於2016年開始，由史克威爾艾尼克斯歐洲協助，採用Unity引擎[9]。前作中為歌露兒·普萊斯做動態捕捉的瑞安娜·德弗里斯（Rhianna DeVries）在本作中回歸，並為歌露兒配音，原作配音演員阿什莉·伯奇則出任編劇顧問[2][10][11]。在2016–17年遊戲配音演員罷工潮（英語：2016–17 video game voice actor strike）影響下，伯奇未再度為歌露兒配音[12]。工潮結束後，伯奇和前作麥珂茜·考爾菲德（Max Caulfield）的配音漢娜·特爾（Hannah Telle）回歸[13]。2017年2月，據瑞秋·安布爾（當時代號叫蕾貝卡）的配音演員凱莉·布朗（Kylie Brown）透露[14]，遊戲在選角階段有許多暫定名稱[15]。配樂由英國獨立民謠（英語：indie folk）樂隊女兒樂團作詞作曲，13條曲目於2017年9月1日由玻璃筆記唱片（英語：Glassnote Records）發行[16][17]。樂隊從劇本及概念圖中汲取靈感[18]，用不同樂器展現主角各種心情，鋼琴代表孤獨，電吉他代表叛逆，層次分明的人聲代表友情[19]。編劇團隊研究大量回憶錄及心理學著作，了解歌露兒的悲傷歷程[20]。領先編劇扎克·加里斯（Zak Garriss）利用自己參與製作電視劇《犯罪心理：超越邊界（英語：Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders）》的經驗，參考電視界打造編劇室模式[21]，最終打造出長達1500頁的劇本[22]。附加章節劇本從結局開始撰寫，再根據內容打造內容[23]。

發行

遊戲正式公開前，網上就有暗示《奇異人生》前傳正在開發的圖片流傳[24]。史克威爾艾尼克斯於6月11日在2017年電子娛樂展上公布《奇異人生：風暴前夕》，三章內容於8月31日起登陸Microsoft Windows、PlayStation 4和Xbox One平台[2]。第一章發布時，官方發布題為「公開信」的（Open Letter）的宣傳視頻，幾個人在鏡頭前讀出寫給好朋友的公開信[25]。史克威爾艾尼克斯代表每段帶有主題標籤#YourFriendMe（你是我的好朋友）的視頻，向非營利心理健康慈善團體傑德基金會（英語：Jed Foudation）捐贈5美元[26]。豪華版收錄以麥珂茜·考爾菲德為主角額外章節《告別》、三條衣服及混音帶模式（Mixtape Mode），其中混音帶模式允許玩家利用遊戲的原聲帶構建播放列表[3]。額外章節於2018年3月6日隨實體限定版和黑膠版發行。限定版附畫冊及原聲帶CD，黑膠版附原聲帶的黑膠唱片，同時預購用戶可以獲得限定版附送的歌露兒及瑞秋手辦，外加《奇異人生》第一章下載代碼[27][28]。日文配音版於2018年6月7日登陸Microsoft Windows、PlayStation 4和Xbox One平台[29]。Feral Interactive開發的MacOS和Linux移植版於2018年9月13日發布[30]。Deck Nine移植的Android和iOS版於9月19日發布[31]。

據Metacritic顯示，遊戲收穫普遍好評[34][35]，其中角色、主題、劇情獲贊，劇情漏洞、主要人物關係及收尾階段玩家選擇的影響遭到批評[47][48][49][50]。《第一章：覺醒》中歌露兒·普萊斯和瑞秋·安布爾的角色開發獲得大量好評[51][52][53]。《Hardcore Gamer》的傑瑞米·皮爾斯（Jeremy Peeples）認為歌露兒的舉止「討喜」，性格描繪得層次分明。《GamesRadar》的山姆·洛夫里奇（Sam Loveridge）認為瑞秋的對白更加「接地氣」，角色顯得更為真實。《地鐵報（英語：Metro (British newspaper)）》認為歌露兒在遊戲早期和前作一樣好鬥，有點煩人，但在經歷喪父之痛後變得真相。《Game Informer》的金伯利·華萊士（Kimberly Wallace）認為年輕版的歌露兒「天真、容易受傷」，值得同情。然而，評論人認為兩位主角的關係發展速度「非比尋常」。皮爾斯和洛夫里奇喜歡「嘴炮」（Backtalk）玩法，《地鐵報》和華萊士就不太在乎[54][55][56][57]。

《第二章：勇敢新世界》被認為比第一章要好，或者可以說是整個系列最出彩的一章[58][59]。《地鐵報》讚賞玩家選擇對角色發展產生深遠影響，Shacknews的奧茲·梅加（Ozzie Meija）欣賞歌露兒的「真正成長」與「熱血精神」形成鮮明對比。《Game Informer》的喬·朱巴（Joe Juba）認為不斷理解角色是玩家一直玩這款遊戲的最大動力，但和華萊士一樣抱怨遊戲強行讓歌露兒和瑞秋成為朋友。Destructoid專欄作家布雷特·馬克多斯基（Brett Makedonski）認為角色故事的詮釋起到了「很大的作用」。評論多數提到戲劇《暴風雨》的表演場景，《地鐵報》認為這一段是他們的最愛，梅加覺得這是《暴風前夕》最歡樂的戲份，朱巴認為這是玩家過去所做選擇形成的高潮。《地鐵報》批評劇本「不平整」，不認同角色配音。梅加認為結局「有點拖沓」，可以取消，但對「嘴炮」系統印象深刻[58][59][60][61]。

《地鐵報》和皮爾斯認同《第三章：地獄已空》是全季感情展現最為強烈的一章。評論人紛紛表揚劇本真實，華萊士認為劇本展現了配角的新一面，但馬克多斯基批評戲份不夠的配角竟然成為大反派。《地鐵報》發現對白和配音有點不一致，皮爾斯認為演員表現出「令人難以置信的默契」。華萊士認為歌露兒和瑞秋的「溫柔時刻」是本章最出彩的地方，馬克多斯基認為兩位主角的掙扎、相互逃避及犧牲帶來了非常大的投資。評論人普遍認同遊戲結局的方式[62][63][64][65]。

至於《告別》章節，評論人認為這一章面向遊戲玩家而設，給本季留下精彩的結尾[66][67]，憂鬱但是感情豐富。評論人認為這一章長度很短，對沒有玩過前作的玩家不起作用。原版配音人馬的回歸也被提到。玩家選擇被批無關緊要，劇情被指容易猜透[68][69]。

2017年電子娛樂展結束後，遊戲入選GamesRadar+電子娛樂展最佳遊戲獎[70]，獲提名《Hardcore Gamer》最佳冒險遊戲獎[71]。遊戲還獲得Gamescom2017年大獎最佳擬真遊戲及最佳家庭遊戲[72]提名、2017年遊戲大獎（英語：The Game Awards 2017）最具影響力遊戲提名[73]及2017年金搖杆獎最佳音效及最佳表演（凱莉·布朗）提名[74]，獲得《Game Informer》2017年年度冒險遊戲獎最佳原聲帶及最動人時刻獎（歌露兒與瑞秋在學校表演《暴風雨》）及2017年讀者選擇獎的最佳冒險遊戲獎[75][76]。遊戲名列《Eurogamer》2017年50佳遊戲榜單第16位[77]。
