《美國偶像》第九季於2010年1月12日在FOX播出。[2] Simon Cowell、Randy Jackson和Kara DioGuardi繼續作為評委，Ellen DeGeneres將替代Paula Abdul成為第四位評委。[1] Idol Gives Back也將在本季回歸，並將於2010年4月21日七強結果秀舉行。[3] 在第四季至第七季被使用的24強半決賽的形式也將在本季使用。[4] 本賽季將是Simon Cowell作為美國偶像評委的最後一個賽季。[5]
評委變動
賽季開始後，Paula Abdul並沒有出現在評委小組中。[6] 因為合同談判遇到的問題沒有被解決，Victoria Beckham、en:Mary J.
