勿街（，英語：Mott Street）是美國紐約市曼哈頓下城一條狹窄但繁忙的單行道，南北走向。南起且林廣場，北到布利克街。它被認為是曼哈頓華埠的非官方主街。

歷史

勿街形成於18世紀中葉，原名老街，18世紀末改為現名，以為美國革命的叛軍提供支持的當地屠夫和小酒館老闆約瑟夫·莫特命名。

1858年，一名廣東商人到達此地，為第一個定居在唐人街的華人。他在公園街開設了一家成功的雪茄店[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9]。1872年，中國商人在勿街開設一家百貨公司。在接下來的幾年中，來自廣東省，尤其是台山縣的華人男性移民在附近形成一個台山人的社區[10][11]。在19世紀，堅尼街以南的勿街曾是曼哈頓下城臭名昭著的貧民窟五點的一部分。

到20世紀60年代，大量來自香港的移民也開始抵達，唐人街開始迅速擴張，廣東話成為該社區的主要語言。結果，當時，唐人街變成一個「小香港」[12]。曼哈頓華埠自此成長為美國最大的唐人街。雖然曼哈頓華埠迅速擴展到下東城，然而，曼哈頓華埠的中心，以及遊客的主要目的地，仍然是堅尼街和且林廣場之間的勿街。[13][14]

描述

百餘年來，勿街被認為是曼哈頓華埠非官方的主要商業街，沿街開滿面向遊客的紀念品商店、茶館和餐館，以及華人超市。由於九一一襲擊事件對唐人街經濟的影響，勿街上有數十家商店關閉。勿街32號在1891年開張，是唐人街連續經營時間最長的商店。

堅尼街以北的勿街在歷史上原是小義大利的一部分，但今天也以華人為主。

小粵港

勿街和曼哈頓華埠西部被稱為曼哈頓老華埠，保持了舊日的尺度[13][14]，仍以廣東人為主，富有廣東特色，[12]，被稱為「小香港」、「小廣東」,「小粵港」, 或「粵港埠」。這裡的大多數華人店鋪仍然屬於廣東人所有，使用的廣州話與香港粵語是這裡的通用語[18][19][20]。而包厘街以東的曼哈頓新華埠則以後來大量湧入的福州人為主[21]。包厘街原是曼哈頓華埠的邊界，[22]，現在則成了廣東社區和福州社區的分界線[23]。

紐約的第一座天主教主教座堂老聖巴德利爵主教座堂的正門位於勿街，其周圍的高牆表明了19世紀紐約的新教徒和天主教徒之間的緊張關係。天主教顯聖容堂位於勿街25號，是曼哈頓最古老的天主教堂。

現在紐約市的布魯克林也發展了好幾個新小香港／小廣東在本森社區和洋頭灣以及已經成為了全紐約最大的廣東人人口和變成紐約的最中廣東人文化中心.

原本布魯克林的日落公園也有廣東人唐人街但是因為多量福州移民來到日落公園, 現在變成福州人的聚居區.
