Random.org （正式的名字為RANDOM.ORG）是一個基於大氣噪聲生成亂數的網站。[1]除了在指定的範圍內生成亂數外，它還提供免費工具來模擬事件，例如扔硬幣、洗牌和擲骰子。它也提供付費服務，生成更長的亂數序列，提供第三方抽獎服務和促銷活動隨機折扣。Random.org與偽亂數生成器的不同之處在於偽亂數生成器使用數學公式生成亂數。[2][3]
該網站由愛爾蘭都柏林三一學院的博士和電腦科學教授Mads Haahr在1998年建立。[4][5] 網站提供的亂數是基於多個無線電站擷取的大氣噪聲生成的。[6][7]
原理
一個二進制數字可能是0或者1。Random.org過去使用廉價天線來取得大氣噪音，現在則在哥本哈根、都柏林、鮑爾斯布里奇地區設有多個無線電台，每個電台每秒可以從大氣噪聲中生成12000個位元。[8][9] 生成器生成一個連續的隨機二進制數串，並將其轉換為特定的形式以計算亂數。[10]
限額
提供給每個IP位址的位元數有限，一個新用戶（基於ip地址辯識）擁有1000000位元的免費限額，並在UTC時間的每天晚上恢復至多200000位元。更多的限額可以購買獲得。[11]
