香港人名

由於香港粵語的使用、民族的多樣性以及英語在香港擁有官方語言的地位，香港人的英文名稱一般與中國大陸人名的英文名稱有所差異。

以香港英文名為例，林鄭月娥的英文名稱Carrie Yuet-ngor LAM-CHENG （Carrie Lam）就是按照英文名+個人名+香港粵語姓的格式。姓氏位於名字最後（或在前面並加上逗號），一般都是大寫的。

一般來說，廣東人大多採用粵語的一種或另一種羅馬化方式^[1]，但非廣東移民可能會保留家鄉的英文拼法。例如，在香港英語中使用上海話的拼音，比在上海官方使用的上海話拼音更為普遍，因為上海自中華人民共和國成立以來一直使用漢語拼音^[2]。

香港人的華人名字，有時也有華人姓氏，在使用英文時，可以用英文名字補充或代替。如無血緣關係的演員梁朝偉（Tony Leung Chiu-Wai）和梁家輝（Tony Leung Ka-fai），香港的名字可能遵循英文人名+粵語姓氏+粵語人名的格式。香港對英文名字的使用並沒有很好的研究和記載，^[3]香港的英文名字可以包括一些西方世界不常見的名字，例子有袁國強（Rimsky Yuen）、周一嶽（York Chow）、陳豪（Moses Chan）等。香港英文名的靈感可以來自於月份名、運動品牌和奢侈品牌。較為傳統的英文名稱可能會因字母的添加、取代或刪除而變形（如Sonija、Garbie、Kith），以及使用後綴如「-son」（如Rayson）。^[4]這些類別（加法、替換、以音為基礎等）是產生創意香港名字的基本方法。^[5]
