胃繞道手術是一種手術,此類手術將切割成一大一小的胃,然後用小腸將兩個胃連接起來。只有小胃可以消化食物,這樣可以減少食慾以達到控制體重的目的[1]

胃繞道手術可用於治療肥胖症身高體重指數指數大於40)、2型糖尿病高血壓睡眠呼吸暫停和其他共病症[2][3]與所有手術一樣,接受胃繞道手術的病人可能會出現併發症。2005年至2006年的一項研究顯示,15%的病人因接受胃繞道手術而出現併發症,0.5%的病人在手術後六個月內因併發症而死亡。[4]
