AO級遊戲為娛樂軟件分級委員會（ESRB）評為成人級（Adults Only，AO）的遊戲。雖然沒有美國法律的強制約束力，但ESRB評級系統成為是美國遊戲和零售行業的強制執行標準。[1]在加拿大，一些省份是由電影分級委員會強制執行ESRB的評級。[2][3][4]

被委員會認為不適合十七歲或以下人士玩的遊戲會被評為AO級; AO級遊戲可以包含更高級別的暴力，褻瀆，性或色情內容，而M級可以容忍較低比例的相關內容。AO是最高和最嚴格的ESRB分級，並極大地影響遊戲的的商業可用性，三大遊戲機製造商（任天堂，微軟和索尼電腦娛樂）拒絕讓AO級遊戲通過他們的平台出版，大多數零售商拒絕進貨AO級遊戲。[5][6][7]
