短角寶鳳蝶（學名：Baronia brevicornis），是鳳蝶科寶鳳蝶屬中的一種蝴蝶，也是這個單型屬的唯一一個物種。^[2]該物種是墨西哥一個較小地區的特有種，分佈地區極為有限並且不均勻。^[3]^[4]

一位男爵（英文：Baron）在墨西哥馬德雷山脈地區收集到了該物種第一個標本，因此該屬的學名叫做Baronia，Osbert Salvin 在其後對這一物種給出了生物學描述。^[5]

短角寶鳳蝶的另一特殊之處在於，它是唯一一種以豆科含羞草亞科金合歡屬的植物Acacia cochliacanha 作為幼蟲寄主的鳳蝶。^[6]^[7]

生物分類學

短角寶鳳蝶作為一個孑遺物種，其與絹蝶亞科的關係仍有待研究，因此在相關領域有着極為重要的地位。現在，寶鳳蝶屬已經被劃為了一個單型亞科寶鳳蝶亞科。寶鳳蝶目前被認為是最原始的一種鳳蝶，與已滅絕的一屬鳳蝶Praepapilio（英語：Praepapilio）有着較多共同點。
