胭蚧属（学名：Dactylopius）^[2]是半翅目胭蚧科（学名：Dactylopiidae，又名洋红虫科）之下唯一的一个属^[1]。

本属物种有时会被泛称为“胭脂虫”（cochineals）^[3]^[4]，但更多时候这个名称专指本属的Dactylopius coccus这个物种：一种无论在经济上或历史上均同等重要的物种，从公元10世纪起就已是红色染料胭脂红的主要来源^[3]。此外，本属有多个物种均为生物防治的重要物种，亦同时有个物种被认为是入侵物种^[1]。

多样性

本属物种为单系群^[5]，现时包括有11个物种。当中有九个物种长久以来便属于本属，另外的两个种除了2012年才被描述的D. gracilipilus^[1]，馀下的物种D. bassi乃2001年从介壳虫属（英语：coccus (insect)）（Coccus（英语：coccus (insect)））转过来的^[6]。
