教会唯一的根基

《教会根基歌》（英语：The Church's One Foundation），又译教会唯一的根基或教会独一的根基，是一首由撒母耳·约翰·斯通撰写的基督教圣诗。

这诗歌直接回应首任纳塔尔主教约翰·威廉·哥伦素当时被认为偏离正道的教导，他在南非圣公会制造了内部纷争。[1]歌词第四段“虽她受尽了困难，旁人嘲笑讥评，内争分裂了她身，异端叛道离经”(普天颂赞版)点出了这主题。哥伦素主教因他的教导而被撤职，但他向英格兰的更高教会机构上诉。

就在这时，约翰·斯通被牵涉入争辩当中。这启发了他1866年撰写了以使徒信经为基础的一套诗歌。他为诗歌命名为“Lyra Fidelium；使徒信经十二节的十二首诗歌”，《教会唯一的根基》就是根据第九节“神圣大公教会；圣徒相通”创作的。

歌谱通常是撒母耳·萨巴士田·卫斯理选定的“Aurelia”。[2]

Is Jesus Christ her Lord,
She is His new creation
By water and the Word.
From heaven He came and sought her
To be His holy bride;

2 She is from every nation,
Yet one o'er all the earth;
Her charter of salvation,

And tumult of her war,
She waits the consummation

And the great Church victorious
Shall be the Church at rest.

With God the Three in One,
And mystic sweet communion
With those whose rest is won,
With all her sons and daughters
Who, by the Master's Hand

7 O happy ones and holy!
Lord, give us grace that we
Like them, the meek and lowly,
On high may dwell with Thee:
There, past the border mountains,
Where in sweet vales the Bride
