制作
在2022年电影《危笑》上映后，编剧兼导演帕克·菲恩接受采访时表示，他故意在首集的某些情节交代得含糊不清，同时表示有兴趣在潜在的续集详细探索这些细节[4]。2023年3月，菲恩与派拉蒙影业签署一份多年期的优先合作协议，以开发更多的恐怖电影[5]。4月，派拉蒙在2023年CinemaCon上正式宣布制作《危笑》的续集并已进入前期制作阶段，菲恩将回归担任编剧和导演[6]。12月，娜奥米·斯科特签约出演主角[7]。2024年1月，卢卡斯·盖奇和罗丝玛丽·德威特签约参演，凯尔·加纳回归出演首集的角色乔尔（Joel）[8][9]。2月，黛伦·葛卢拉、劳尔·卡斯提洛和迈尔士·古铁雷斯-莱利（Miles Gutierrez-Riley）签约参演[10][11]。
