A Republic of Korea (ROK) tank Commander mans the 12.7mm K6 roof mounted machine gun atop his K1 Main Battle Tank (MBT) from a concealed position during combined Exercises Reception, Staging, Onward Movement, and Integration/Foal Eagle 2002 (RSOI/FE 02). The gun is equipped with a blank firing device and Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System (MILES) gear. RSOI is an annual combined/Joint Command Post Exercise held by Combined Forces Command, Republic of Korea and US Forces Commanders to train and evaluate command capabilities to receive US forces from bases outside of Korea. Foal Eagle is a Counter Infiltration Field Training Exercise. 2002 marks the first time that the two major exercises have been conducted simultaneously.
