尺子
尺子又称尺、间尺,是用来画线段(尤其是直的),使用者透过读取沿著设备边缘的一系列称为“尺子”的标记来估计长度。[1]在尺规作图中,尺被视为可画无穷长的直线的工具。尺上通常有刻度以量度长度。有些尺更在中间留有特殊形状如字母或圆形的洞,方便用者画图。
通常,该仪器是刚性的,并且边缘本身是直尺(“直尺”),这也允许人们画直线。有些尺子,例如布卷尺或纸卷尺,是非刚性的。存在具有可保持选定形状的柔性边缘的特殊尺;它们可用于缝纫、艺术和工艺品。
