NGC 66鲸鱼座的一个漩涡星系星等为13.4,赤经为19分04.9秒,赤纬为-22°56'11"。1886年由法兰克·穆勒首次发现[5],含有广大的电离氢区[6]。此星系离地球较远,估算其大小时,需要考虑宇宙的膨胀幅度,估算值达130000光年。[5]此星系中心之外,有某个无线电波源[7],旋臂上亦有红外线源[8]
