艾雷拉龙科(学名:Herrerasauridae)为已知最古老的恐龙类群,其化石记录最早为2亿3323万年前的卡尼阶。艾雷拉龙科后来在诺利阶灭绝。艾雷拉龙科为小型(体长不超过4米)的肉食性兽脚类[2]蜥臀目基础分类。[3][4]该科的最具代表种属来自南美洲(巴西阿根廷),并于上世纪60年代发现。一具接近完整的伊斯基瓜拉斯托艾雷拉龙骨架发现于阿根廷圣胡安省伊沙瓜拉斯托发现。较不完整的其它种属骨架也发现于北美洲,这表明它们也栖息于其他大陆。

艾雷拉龙科的解剖学是异常和专业的,它们被认为不是后期恐龙演化支的祖先。它们通常有着原始和衍生性状。其髋臼是部分开放的,并只有两个骶骨,是所有恐龙中骶骨数量最少的。它们的耻骨有着衍生结构,其旋转有点向后折叠,并创造出类似坚尾龙类的端子扩展,尤其是艾雷拉龙。艾雷拉龙科的手较原始,有着五个掌骨且第三个手指长过第二个手指,但兽脚类只有三根手指和弯曲的爪子。它们也有着类似所有兽脚类的开闭下颌骨。

分类

艾雷拉龙科的演化位置不明。它们可能是兽脚亚目蜥臀目基础分类,但也可能是蜥臀目和鸟臀目的分化位置。[5]早期研究者甚至提出它们是早期的蜥脚形亚目。有些分析,如Nesbitt等人在2009年的研究发现艾雷拉龙科基础的兽脚类,[2]而其他方面如Ezcurra在2010年的研究发现艾雷拉龙科属于基础的真蜥臀类,这意味着它们接近蜥臀目的兽脚类和蜥脚形亚目,但并不属于它们。[6]这种状况进一步不确定晚三叠世陆地动物的年代。[3]

艾雷拉龙科的其他种属为同样来自伊沙瓜拉斯托圣胡安龙属[7]来自巴西南部的南十字龙属噬頜龍屬[8]来自亚利桑那化石森林國家公園钦迪龙属[9]可能还有德克萨斯州的盒龙属[10]虽然这些恐龙之间的演化关系并不明确且不被很多古生物学家同意。Niedźwiedzki等人曾在2014年将一个发现于欧洲波兰的化石分类在艾雷拉龙科。[11]其他可能基础的兽脚亚目,晚三叠纪印度的艾沃克龙属[12]和只有部分化石的巴西大龙属也可能属于艾雷拉龙科。[13]

系统发生学

Novas于1992年将艾雷拉龙科定义为:包含艾雷拉龙、南十字龙以及其最新共同祖先。[14]Sereno于1998年将其定义为:包含伊斯基瓜拉斯托艾雷拉龙,但不包括家麻雀的广泛性演化支。[15]Langer则于2004年将其分类在更高级的分类单元——艾雷拉龙下目Herrerasauria),并定义为:包含艾雷拉龙但不包含理理恩龙板龙[3]根据目前的系统发生学研究,以上的各个定义都是针对同一个演化支。

以下第一个的演化树显示了Fernando E. Novas、Martin D. Ezcurra、Sankar Chatterjee和T. S. Kutty于2011年的分析。在该次分析中,艾雷拉龙为原始的蜥臀目,并非兽脚亚目。[16]第二个演化树则是基于Hans-Dieter Sues、Sterling J. Nesbitt、David S Berman和Amy C. Henrici于2011/12年的分析。这个分析则显示艾雷拉龙为基础的兽脚亚目。
